BASIC SCIENCE OF CANCER FOCUS GROUPS

COORDINATING GROUP MEMBERS

DESCRIPTION

The Cell Proliferation and Cell Death Program (Program 2) and the Molecular Mechanisms of Oncogenesis Program (Program 4), have been reorganized under the topic of Basic Science of Cancer, to be coordinated by Drs. Brady-Kalnay, Distelhorst, Houghton, and Stark. Specific interest Focus Groups have been formed around research areas, and these groups meet regularly to explore common research interests and develop collaborations that will advance cancer research programs. The potential benefits of such regular, focused meetings are:

• Development of collegial research relationships
• Increasing the potential for multi-investigator grant applications
• Improving technical support
• Increasing graduate student training opportunities
• Inviting outside speakers for seminars and retreats
• Identifying and advocating special support needs and recruitments

All Cancer Center members are welcome to participate in one or more of these Focus Groups. If you wish to participate in one or more of these groups, send a notice to Tracy Rehl at tracy.rehl@case.edu. Suggestions for other topics may be sent directly to one of the Program Leaders listed above. Meeting times are announced in the Case CCC weekly newsletter and are posted on this website (http://cancer.case.edu/newsletter/news.html).
